  1. By the way, this novel would NOT be about one religion being better than another.  Instead, it’s about how religion can be used for bad or good, through the lens of two religions, one of which I’m intimately familiar with (Mormonism).

I just didn’t want anybody thinking this book would be about criticizing particular religions.

  2. As long as you have a really good understanding of Islam and it’s not Deseret Book cheesy (apologies if I’ve offended.) I have a few story ideas myself but they’re more fantasy/sci fi type. Anyway, i say go for it.

  3. I feel terrible, but I voted “no” only because if I saw a book like that at a bookstore I wouldn’t read it.  But you know that’s only because I’m a fan of typical Christian romance novels.  However, if YOU wrote it, I would definitely read it!!  I just wanted to give you my honest reaction as a customer walking by–does that make sense?  But it looks like everyone else would read it–so I’m glad I’m in the minority with my tastes. :)

  4. I think the important thing is to develop characters and relationships that are not flat nor stereo-typical. Real people have strengths and weaknesses and etc etc. I’m anti-deseret cheese, too. But I love love and it sounds like this could be ripe with conflict.

    • Thanks!  I agree completely!  I really want this book to explore how they use their beliefs to solve problems and get through difficult periods and eventually find joy and peace.

To be completely honest, I really doubt my ability to tackle a book this complex but I’m willing to give it a shot.

  5. Hahahah – I love that Heidi fessed up to being the “no” vote in your poll! Anyhow, you know my thoughts on your novel already. I think you should do it and I’m excited to read it!!

    • This is the second of my novel ideas that Heidi has said she wouldn’t read.  The other one is even more rife with difficulty and complexity and I can’t blame her for not wanting to read it.  :)

Thanks a ton!  I’m sure I’ll be hounding you with stupid questions (so, how do you outline a novel?  What’s a plot? :)
