Surprising nobody, the nation’s first “Performance Czar” resigned today.
“There was no immediate reason given for her withdrawal.”
…besides the fact that her chances of any kind of success was zero.
However, an “administration official” confirmed:
“that she is withdrawing over a tax problem.”
Well, that makes sense, given that she would be the third cabinet member with tax issues. By the way, didn’t Obama say it was patriotic to pay taxes? Funny him hiring so many unpatriotic people…
Anyway, this tax problem must be huge if it’s forcing her resignation:
“the District of Columbia filed a $946.69 tax lien on her home for
failure to pay the unemployment compensation tax. The error was
resolved five months later.”
She’s resigning over a $946.69 tax liability that has already been resolved? Right.
What was her job description again?
“to make federal programs more efficient and more responsive to those they serve and to help eliminate those that don’t work.”
Right, she was going to enjoy that job. Every senator and congressperson in the country would have been at her door, threatening to kill her if she canceled their program.
Given that she had no hope of success, her first order of business in eliminating programs that don’t work would have been to eliminate her own job.
