This is an interesting post. Watch all the religious people not only decline to back up their position with doctrine and scripture, but actually back away from it:
“I see it as an attempt to caricature and reduce to a cartoon the social conservative belief in the efficacy of a traditional marriage, and try to reduce it to some formulaic, scriptural literalism,” he said. “There’s more of a practical, sociological foundation for why we seek to affirm marriage as an institution than I think is generally understood by those who want to legalize same-sex marriage.”
Is it any wonder homosexuals think we hate them? They see right through the inconsistencies of such arguments. These arguments, some of which may have merit but are still far off the fundamental reason we oppose homosexual marriage, seem like smokescreens (which I think they are). They’re backed up by fear and sensationalism, instead of doctrine and revelation.
I can’t believe our Church is being lumped in with these people.
